Synthetic tests are a combination of dynamic and scheduled tests that are pre-configured in a template for corresponding applications, thereby making it very easy and efficient to monitor your desired application.
To monitor the performance of an application, navigate to the Endpoint Agent > Test Settings section in the UI:
Click the Monitor Application button in the Tests tab, nested in the Synthetic Tests tab.
In the Monitor Application side panel, select the application you wish to monitor. You can use the Search box to filter available templates by name.
You can now see the Global Settings for the selected application. In this case, it is Webex.
The Global Settings tab provides an overview of the test template, along with the Deployment Summary, and available agents in your account group that can run the tests associated with the template in full and partial capacity.
Enter the information in the relevant fields. The included tests are listed on the left-hand side of the panel (below the Global Settings). By default, the included tests are toggled on, but you can use the toggle to deselect any tests you don't want to include.
The included tests are pre-configured by default, making it time-efficient for you and providing optimum results. However, you can edit the configuration by clicking on the tests.
You can learn more about test configuration options here.
After completing the configuration for the included tests, click Review to review the summary of the test template you have selected.
On the last screen, review the components you are about to create. Click Deploy Now.
The platform displays a confirmation message that your template has been successfully deployed.
Once your test template is deployed, you can see its components in Endpoint Agents > Test Settings > Tests.
You can create a custom test template for applications that do not have a pre-defined template. To create a custom template, do the following:
Go to Endpoint Agent > Test Settings.
In the Synthetic Tests tab > Tests tab, click Monitor Application.
Click the Custom Application tile in the side panel.
You can now see the Global Settings section in the panel. Enter the relevant information in the fields.
On the left-hand side of the panel (below the Global Settings), click the Add Test button and select the desired test from the drop-down.
You can now configure this test and enter the relevant Basic Configuration and Advanced Settings information. You can learn more about the configuration options here.
You can add more tests by repeating steps 4 and 5.
