# Monitoring an Application using Synthetic Tests

{% hint style="warning" %}

Synthetic tests are a combination of dynamic and scheduled tests that are pre-configured in a template for corresponding applications, thereby making it very easy and efficient to monitor your desired application.

## Deploying an Existing Test Template

To monitor the performance of an application, navigate to the **Endpoint Experience > Test Settings** section in the UI:

1. Click the Monitor Application button in the Tests tab, nested in the Synthetic Tests tab.

2. In the **Monitor Application** side panel, select the application you wish to monitor. You can use the **Search** box to filter available templates by name.

   You can now see the **Global Settings** for the selected application. In this case, it is **Webex**.

   ![](https://1112912342-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F-M4QARF6s57qxMrOHDTZ%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-b562bcbe2022dde047ca6f0d48db21bd124d2350%2Fproduct-documentation_end-user-monitoring_test-settings_synthetic-tests-2.png?alt=media\&token=4ec05f4c-b199-4e31-b4f7-4954c86f7998)

   The **Global Settings** tab provides an overview of the test template, along with the **Deployment Summary**, and available agents in your account group that can run the tests associated with the template in full and partial capacity.
3. Enter the information in the relevant fields. The included tests are listed on the left-hand side of the panel (below the **Global Settings**). By default, the included tests are toggled on, but you can use the toggle to deselect any tests you don't want to include.

4. The included tests are pre-configured by default, making it time-efficient for you and providing optimum results. However, you can edit the configuration by clicking on the tests.

   You can learn more about test configuration options [here](https://docs.thousandeyes.com/product-documentation/end-user-monitoring/test-settings/configure-tests).
