Dynamic Application Test Suites
These Connected Devices tests share similarities with the ThousandEyes Endpoint Agent's scheduled tests and dynamic tests. Like Endpoint Agent scheduled tests, the tests run on a specified schedule, usually once every hour or so, and perform both web-layer HTTP-server and network-layer agent-to-server type tests. They are also dynamic in that they themselves can locate the application server to most accurately simulate a user’s lived experience, such as a video conference call or streamed blockbuster movie. Unlike Endpoint Agent dynamic tests, though, they do not run only when the application being tested is running – instead, they run on the specified schedule.
These tests are also grouped into their specific application types, such as social media tests or gameplay tests. These groupings are called suites. You can test against any or all applications within a suite. For billing purposes, you only pay to run a suite of tests, not for individual tests within a suite. For example, you may choose to run all 20+ gameplay tests every two hours. Across a day, you’d only be charged for 12 "tests". See Device Agent Consumption Model for more information about how units work for Connected Devices tests.
