Getting Started with Views 1.0

The Cloud and Enterprise Agents > Views page provides a detailed look at test results. Users can navigate between the different ways to view test data and drill down into the data to identify issues and determine causes.

This article provides a high-level overview of the Cloud and Enterprise Agents > Views page, how to navigate it, and what is available within it.

Overview

The Cloud and Enterprise Agents > Views page is broken into three panels:

Top Panel

Test Selector

The Test Selector is a drop-down menu that lists all available tests (including disabled tests). Users can see the current selected test, filter the list of tests by test type or label, hide disabled tests, and group them by test or label.

Global Filters

The Global Filters are a set of dynamic drop-down menus that allow users to further define the data presented on the Cloud and Enterprise Agents > Views page. Depending on the type of test selected, users can configure which agents and/or servers to view data from, as well as the direction of traffic that should be focused on.

Primary Panel

Views List

The Views List allows users to navigate between different views within the selected test(s). Each available view is grouped by test layer.

Metric Selector

The Metric Selector is a drop-down menu that lists the available metrics to display in the timeline view.

Timeline

The Timeline is the primary focus of the Cloud and Enterprise Agents > Views page. It shows test data from the last 14 days, or the length of time the test has been enabled (whichever is the lesser value). The data shown on the timeline can be manipulated by selecting the shortcuts for 24 hours (24h), 7 days (7d), or 14 days (14d), by clicking within the timeline to select a particular round of data, or highlighting a range within the timeline to focus on a smaller time period.

Secondary Panel

Detailed Metrics Tabs

The Detailed Metrics tabs are a dynamic set of additional views available depending on which test view is currently selected. These tabs include:

  • The Map tab displays the global position of each of the vantage points used for the test.

  • The Table and Agents tabs provide a detailed collection of information about each of the agents related to the test.

  • The Servers tab provides a detailed collection of information about each of the relevant servers.

Path Visualization

The Path Visualization view allows you to visualize the path trace data between vantage points and target locations to identify problem areas in both the private and public network infrastructure. It can be accessed from the Views List in the primary panel. For more information, see Using the Path Visualization View.

BGP Route Visualization

The BGP Route Visualization view allows you to visualize how data is being routed across the internet, and troubleshoot issues that may be preventing packets from getting to their desired destination. It can be accessed from the Views List in the primary panel. See Using the BGP Route Visualization View.
