Test recommendations are an efficient way for you to quickly create tests, alerts, and dashboards. Because test recommendations are based on your existing services and integrations, you can experience the benefits of improved monitoring coverage right away, such as quicker detection and resolution of service degradation and network outages.
To view a list of available test recommendations for your account:
Go to Cloud & Enterprise Agents > Test Settings > Tests.
At the Add New Test button, click the dropdown arrow and select Add from Recommendations.
Notifications about available integrations and recommendations for those integrations also appear in the bell notification menu in the status bar at the top of the page in the ThousandEyes app.
To deploy a template from a test recommendation, see Select a Template From Recommendations.
In addition to recommending tests, ThousandEyes can also recommend improvements to existing tests you have configured. These recommendations are based on best practices for getting the most effective coverage from the ThousandEyes platform.
To view available test optimizations, navigate to Cloud & Enterprise Agents > Test Settings > Tests. If any optimizations are available, a message appears at the top of the screen indicating possible performance issues with your tests. You can click on the Optimize Tests button for more information.
When an HTTP test to a proxy target has agents that are not properly configured, the test does not run the network layer test, leaving a gap in coverage. Because managing test settings across numerous tests and agents can be complicated, this gap can be difficult to detect. The automated recommendation feature can detect where this is happening and help you correct your test configuration to improve network layer coverage.
To address recommended proxy test optimizations, select Correct Proxy Settings from the test optimizations list. A list of tests affected by correcting the agent configuration will appear. This will allow you to enable the Perform network measurements to the proxy option.
Click the Save changes button to update the tests. If you would rather leave your tests untouched, select Cancel to exit.
