Cisco Secure Client ThousandEyes Endpoint Agent Module

The Endpoint Agent component of ThousandEyes is integrated as a module within the Secure Client, providing significant value to diagnose network-related issues, particularly when connecting to a VPN or SASE solution. This integration allows you to download and manage your Endpoint Agents with your other Cisco Secure Client Modules, removing the need for a separate installation.
In this document, you can learn how the ThousandEyes Endpoint Agent Module works with Secure Client.
You need to ensure that the following conditions are met before starting:
This module can be installed on Cisco Secure Client version CSC 5.0.04032 or higher for Windows, and CSC 5.0 MR5 or higher for macOS.
Endpoint Agent version supported is 1.167.0 or higher.
The Endpoint Agent is supported on the following operating systems:
Windows 10 and higher
macOS 11 (Big Sur), and higher
Ensure you have sufficient Endpoint licenses (Advantage or Essentials).
Endpoint Agent Connection String - This can be found here Connection String and is used to identify the account group of the agent.
The Endpoint Agent installation package is included as one of the modules in the Secure Client Download package. You can select the module along with other desired modules and download the updated zip file.
To install the Endpoint Agent:
In the downloaded Secure Client package, run the Secure Client Setup.exe
.
This will install all modules without configuration. You can learn more about the installation in the Cisco Secure Client documentation.
After completing the installation, configuring the module is necessary. To do this, you will require your connection string and execute the subsequent register command: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Cisco\Cisco Secure Client\ThousandEyes Endpoint Agent\csc_te_agent" --register [Connection string]
To install the Endpoint Agent:
Extract the installer package (for example cisco-secure-client-win-1.167.0-thousandeyes-predeploy-k9.msi
) from the Secure Client Download package on your local machine.
From your extracted location, launch the installer package (in this case, cisco-secure-client-win-1.167.0-thousandeyes-predeploy-k9.msi
) to start the installation of the Endpoint Agent.
An installation wizard will guide you through the steps to install the Endpoint Agent.
In one of the steps, you need to enter the Connection String parameter to successfully install the Endpoint Agent.
For silent installation (mass installation), your Secure Client Administrators must load the Secure Client and all modules into separate installation jobs. For example, you can use the following script to install an agent with default options:
msiexec.exe /i "{Path to the folder exracted}\Cisco Secure Client - ThousandEyes Endpoint Agent-{Version}.msi" /quiet /norestart ACCOUNT_CONFIG=[Connection String]

The Cisco Secure Client ThousandEyes Endpoint Agent Module does not support IE browser extension (only Chrome and Edge browser extensions are supported).

Double-click the downloaded Secure Client package to initiate the installation wizard.
Select the ThousandEyes Endpoint Agent module along with other desired modules and proceed with the installation. You can learn more about the installation in the Cisco Secure Client documentation.
After completing the installation, configuring the module is necessary. To do this, you will require your connection string and execute the subsequent register command: sudo /Applications/Cisco/Cisco\ Secure\ Client\ -\ ThousandEyes\ Endpoint\ Agent.app/Contents/MacOS/csc_te_agent --register <connection_string>
Upon successful installation, the Endpoint Agent can be viewed in the About Box of the Cisco Secure Client UI.
Existing Endpoint Agents can be reviewed and managed from the Endpoint Agents > Agent Settings page of the ThousandEyes web application:
Agents that are installed from the Cisco Secure Client have CSC added to their Agent Version
