# Configuring Traffic Monitors Via Meraki Dashboard

There may be subtly different ways to set up a traffic monitor via the Meraki Dashboard depending on the device you use. General steps include:

1. Log into the Meraki admin console.
2. Navigate to **Network-wide > Configure > General**.
3. Allow SNMP access (you may also need to type in the community name).
4. Set **NetFlow traffic reporting** or **NetFlow collector** to "Enabled".
5. In the **NetFlow collector IP** field, enter your Traffic Insights forwarder IP address.
6. In the **NetFlow collector port** field, enter 18089.

7. Click **Save**.

You need to update your firewall settings in the Meraki dashboard to allow SNMP polling from the IP address of the appropriate forwarder. See Meraki's [WAN Appliance Services](https://documentation.meraki.com/MX/Firewall_and_Traffic_Shaping/MX_Firewall_Settings#WAN_Appliance_Services) for more information about allowing SNMP polling.
