# ThousandEyes AI Features

A number of agentic and generative artificial intelligence-powered capabilities ("AI Feature(s)") are integrated into the ThousandEyes platform. This article provides an overview of the current AI Features, links to the relevant documentation, and explains the controls available to you, including how to disable AI Features and how to prevent your data from being used to train or fine-tune them.

{% hint style="warning" %}
AI Features in ThousandEyes are marked with the Cisco AI Symbol <img src="https://1112912342-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F-M4QARF6s57qxMrOHDTZ%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-749866c5f9973f73edbd4bdc5b39bbe65b7d8bce%2Flogo.png?alt=media" alt="Cisco AI Symbol" data-size="line">.

Some AI Features are delivered through, or interoperate with, other Cisco Offers ("Cisco Offer Integration"). If you leverage a Cisco Offer Integration, you must also review the [Offer Disclosure](https://trustportal.cisco.com/c/r/ctp/trust-portal.html?doctype=Offer%20Disclosure#/) for the other Cisco Offer to understand how your data is handled and any available controls for AI Features.

Setting a control in ThousandEyes does not change the equivalent setting in another Cisco Offer.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="warning" %}
AI Features are not available for ThousandEyes for Government. Refer to the MCP server information below for available options to connect your own AI client or assistant to the ThousandEyes platform.
{% endhint %}

## Agentic AI and GenAI-Powered Capabilities

### Cisco AI Assistant Integrated in ThousandEyes

The Cisco AI Assistant is embedded within ThousandEyes to provide AI-driven troubleshooting support and situational analysis. It helps users quickly identify and understand network and application issues by summarizing alerts, events, and outage data. The AI Assistant also supports natural language queries about product documentation and API usage, offering relevant links and insights to accelerate problem resolution.

For more information, see [Cisco AI Assistant Integrated in ThousandEyes](https://docs.thousandeyes.com/product-documentation/getting-started/getting-support-from-thousandeyes#cisco-ai-assistant-integrated-in-thousandeyes).

### Event Summarization

ThousandEyes uses large language models (LLMs) to generate AI-driven summaries of events, helping users (especially newcomers) understand the nature and cause of events. Users can click the **Summarize Event(s)** button to receive a natural language breakdown of what the event is and why it was generated, with the ability to ask follow-up questions for deeper insights.

For more information, see [Event Detection](https://docs.thousandeyes.com/product-documentation/event-detection#event-summarization-using-large-language-models-llms) and [Events in Cloud Insights](https://docs.thousandeyes.com/product-documentation/cloud-insights/views/events-in-cloud-insights#ai-assisted-event-analysis).

### AI Views Explanations

The views explanation tool provides analysis for multiple rounds of network and application synthetics tests.

For more information, see [AI Views Explanations](https://docs.thousandeyes.com/product-documentation/internet-and-wan-monitoring/viewing-data#ai-views-explanations).

## ThousandEyes MCP Server

The ThousandEyes MCP server allows you to connect an AI client directly to the ThousandEyes platform so that it can use natural language queries and commands to access and analyze the ThousandEyes network monitoring data through a standardized interface.

{% hint style="info" %}
The MCP server is not an AI Feature. You do not need to opt-in to ThousandEyes AI Features to use it. Organizations that have AI Features disabled can still connect an AI client to the MCP server while keeping those settings in place.

Access to the MCP server is governed by the same controls as the ThousandEyes API: API access permissions, API tokens, or the OAuth 2.0 flow and rate limits.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
This reflects the MCP server's capabilities today. Organizations that have opted in to AI capabilities may, in the future, see agentic capabilities surfaced through the MCP server. Organizations that remain opted out will continue to access it as the standardized, non-generative data interface described here.
{% endhint %}

For more information, see [ThousandEyes MCP Server](https://docs.thousandeyes.com/product-documentation/integration-guides/thousandeyes-mcp-server).

## Agentic AI and GenAI Data Privacy and Customer Security

At Cisco, we believe that Agentic AI and GenAI can be leveraged to power an inclusive future for all. We also recognize that by applying this technology, we have a responsibility to mitigate potential harm. That is why Cisco adheres to our [Responsible AI Framework](https://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en_us/about/doing_business/trust-center/docs/cisco-responsible-artificial-intelligence-framework.pdf), which is based on [six principles](https://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en_us/about/doing_business/trust-center/docs/cisco-responsible-artificial-intelligence-principles.pdf) of Transparency, Fairness, Accountability, Privacy, Security and Reliability.

## Managing AI Features

AI Feature capabilities and the use of customer data (except personal data) for training and fine-tuning, are enabled by default. Your Administrator can change either setting at any time by navigating to **Manage -> Account Settings -> Organization Settings -> AI Features**, where two independent toggles are available:

* **AI Features Access**: Enable or disable access to AI Features within the ThousandEyes platform. Individual AI Features cannot be enabled or disabled independently of one another. Disabling this toggle does not affect access to the ThousandEyes MCP Server.
* **Customer Data for Training and Fine-Tuning**: Enable or disable ThousandEyes' use of Customer Systems Information and Customer Content to train or fine-tune the ThousandEyes AI Features.

![AI Feature Usage and Training Toggles](https://1112912342-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F-M4QARF6s57qxMrOHDTZ%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-0a39c0c691005c48a5b07bd7ec34b28ff9a27b96%2Fgenai-toggle.png?alt=media).

{% hint style="info" %}
You may enable AI Features while disabling Training and Fine-Tuning. Disabling AI Features will also disable Training and Fine-Tuning.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
Only organization administrators can configure these toggles.
{% endhint %}
