Supported Cisco Switching Platforms

ThousandEyes supports installing Enterprise Agents on the supported Cisco switching platforms listed in the tables below. Review the relevant table for your switching device to identify the minimum system requirements and any additional installation prerequisites, as well as the available installation methods.

All devices within a supported platform family are supported. Individual device models are listed only when their system requirements or installation prerequisites differ from the general platform requirements.

Installation Methods

Application Hosting

Cisco Application Hosting runs the Enterprise Agent in a container on the switch. The Cisco IOS XE application-hosting framework provides a separate execution environment for hosted applications and manages their deployment, lifecycle, and resource allocation without affecting the switch's core operating system.

ThousandEyes supports Application Hosting deployments on supported Cisco Catalyst switches, Cisco smart switches and Industrial Ethernet switches. For a general overview, see Cisco's Application Hosting documentation.

Cisco Catalyst Center

Cisco Catalyst Center is Cisco's centralized management system for provisioning and managing supported network devices and hosted applications. Use this installation method when the switching platform supports ThousandEyes deployment through Catalyst Center. Catalyst Center can also provide application lifecycle management after the Enterprise Agent is installed.

Licensing and Entitlements

Catalyst 9300 and Catalyst 9400 Series

A Cisco DNA Advantage subscription provides access to the embedded ThousandEyes Enterprise Agent on supported Catalyst 9300 and Catalyst 9400 Series switches. Each eligible subscription provides an entitlement equivalent to 22 ThousandEyes units per month. Use rights for the ThousandEyes entitlement in Cisco DNA Advantage with Catalyst 9300 and Catalyst 9400 switches do not apply in the ThousandEyes government instance.

Industrial Ethernet Switches

A Network Advantage license is required for each installed Industrial Ethernet switch.
