# Endpoint Agent Installation on Cisco Phone Devices (PhoneOS)

The Endpoint Agent on Cisco PhoneOS devices combines device data with Endpoint Agent telemetry. This data helps you identify whether call-quality problems originate on the phone, local network, network path, or broader network.

This article explains how to activate the Endpoint Agent on supported Cisco phone devices.

## Prerequisites

* You have a ThousandEyes account with the required admin permissions.
* You have an Essentials or Advantage license.
* You have one of the following supported devices, registered with Webex Calling multi-tenant (WxC MT), Webex Calling Dedicated Instance (WxC DI), or Cisco Unified Communications Manager (Unified CM):
  * [Cisco Video Phone 8875](https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/collaboration-endpoints/unified-ip-phone-8800-series/video-phone-8875-ds.html) running PhoneOS 5.0.1 or later.
  * [Cisco Desk Phone 9861 or 9871](https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/collaboration-endpoints/desk-phone-9800-series/series.html) running PhoneOS 3.2.1 or later.

## Getting Started

### Establishing the ThousandEyes and Webex Control Hub Connection

1. Create a token in ThousandEyes by going to the **User API Tokens** section in **Account Settings > Users and Roles > Profile**.

2. Follow [Integrate ThousandEyes with Troubleshooting in Control Hub](https://help.webex.com/en-us/article/nymfj2d/Integrate-ThousandEyes-with-Troubleshooting-in-Control-Hub#task-template_bdd45fbb-9087-45e4-87f1-ec396d886b57) to activate the integration.

### Configuring the Phone Device to Enable ThousandEyes

The following instructions explain how to enable ThousandEyes on **Cisco Unified Communications Manager (Unified CM)** and **Webex Calling Dedicated Instance (WxC DI)**:

#### Prerequisites

1. You have access to Unified CM.
2. For phones registered with an on-premises Unified CM deployment, log in to the Cisco Unified CM Administration screen at `https://<Node-IP>/ccmadmin`. Use the **Navigation** dropdown to switch between applications, such as Cisco Unified Serviceability, Cisco Unified OS Administration, Disaster Recovery System, and Cisco Unified Reporting. Type your username and password.

## Creating Tests in ThousandEyes

1. Copy the meeting site ID from Webex Control Hub. When you create tests, use this value as the **Webex Site ID**.

![](https://1112912342-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F-M4QARF6s57qxMrOHDTZ%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-83e5ed9c8c21670b66d1625b1aa4857ba561ad0f%2Fproduct-documentation_global-vantage-points_endpoint-agents_installing_phoneos-3.png?alt=media)

2. In the ThousandEyes platform, go to the **Endpoint Agent > Test Settings** screen.

![](https://1112912342-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F-M4QARF6s57qxMrOHDTZ%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-432a41d12f88a32901395dfa7684087bc2ec6a98%2Fproduct-documentation_global-vantage-points_endpoint-agents_installing_phoneos-4.png?alt=media)

3. Create a synthetic test by using the **Webex** template. For instructions, see [Deploy an Existing Test Template](https://docs.thousandeyes.com/product-documentation/end-user-monitoring/test-settings/synthetic-tests#deploying-an-existing-test-template).

### Running Tests and Analyzing the Results

After the agents are active and the devices have participated in a few meetings, go to the Control Hub troubleshooting screen. On the **Troubleshooting** screen:

1. Search for the device on the **Meetings & Calls** tab.

### Limitations

* Cisco Desk Phone 9811, 9851, and 9841 models are not supported.
* Detailed Wi-Fi metrics are not available.
* ICE-optimized calls, proxy configurations, VPNs, WebRTC, BroadWorks, and third-party call control are not supported.
* Phones deployed with WxC MT do not support third-party meetings such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom.
