Alert Optimizations

Alert Optimizations reviews recent alert activity and recommends changes that can reduce repeated alert noise. In the current beta, ThousandEyes looks for Network & App Synthetics manual alert rules that trigger and clear in rapid recovery patterns, then recommends switching those rules to Adaptive Alerting.
The highest-ranked optimizations appear first, so you can start with the alert rules that are likely to have the largest impact. In the ThousandEyes platform, the optimization banner can show that recommended changes might reduce alert noise by up to 80%.
Where You See Alert Optimizations
You can see Alert Optimizations in the alert workflow:
Alerts > Active Alerts: A banner shows how many alert rules have optimizations. Select See Alert Rules With Optimizations to review those rules.
Alerts > Alert History: A banner shows how many alert rules have optimizations. Alert details can also show an optimization for the related alert rule. Select View Optimization to open the alert rule.
Alerts > Alert Rules: A banner shows available optimizations, and the With Optimizations filter shows alert rules that have a recommendation.
Alert rule side panel: A recommendation card explains why the rule has an optimization and lets you apply, reject, or dismiss it.
How Alert Optimizations Work
ThousandEyes reviews recent alert history for repeated alert activity. When a Network & App Synthetics manual alert rule triggers and clears repeatedly in short cycles, ThousandEyes can recommend switching the rule to Adaptive Alerting.
Adaptive Alerting uses learned patterns from recent test data to decide when an issue is meaningful enough to trigger an alert. For more information, see Adaptive Alert Detection.
Alert Optimizations prioritizes recommendations when:
The alert rule has enough recent history.
The expected noise reduction is high.
Adaptive Alerting looks like the right fit for the rule.
Alert Optimizations shows all alert rules that currently have optimizations. Rules with more repeated trigger-and-clear cycles appear higher in the list.
Taking Action on an Optimization
To apply, reject, or dismiss an optimization, your role must include the Edit alert rules permission. To view optimizations, your role must include the View alert rules permission.
Apply Changes
ThousandEyes switches the alert rule from Manual Thresholds to Adaptive Alerting for all tests associated with that rule. The change is saved automatically.
Reject
ThousandEyes permanently rejects that optimization and removes it from the visible optimization list.
X
ThousandEyes dismisses the optimization. A dismissed optimization can return after the next refresh if the rapid recovery pattern still exists.
View Optimization
ThousandEyes opens the related alert rule so you can review the optimization.
Recommendation Refresh and Lifecycle
Recommendations refresh weekly. Counts and lists update when you apply, reject, or dismiss optimizations.
An optimization can disappear when:
You apply or reject it.
You dismiss it.
The alert rule no longer shows the rapid recovery pattern.
The alert rule is deleted.
Beta Scope
The current beta focuses on one recommendation type: switching noisy Network & App Synthetics manual alert rules to Adaptive Alerting. It does not cover other optimization types, such as suppression-window recommendations, sensitivity recommendations, bulk apply, emails, APIs, or notification enrichment.
