Enhanced Endpoint Agent Server Tooltip

We have improved the tooltip information for target servers in the path view for dynamic and scheduled tests. When they differ, you can now view the original IP address and port alongside the ones used for testing. This update offers a more comprehensive view of the configuration used for testing, streamlining network data analysis, and troubleshooting.

ThousandEyes API v6 - End of Life Updates

ThousandEyes will continue to support API v6 until May 27th, 2025, according to our API support policy and as communicated in our initial announcement on February 27th, 2024. More importantly, we are extending the end-of-life for ThousandEyes API v6 endpoints until May 27th, 2026, meaning that endpoints will remain reachable until that date.

From May 27th, 2026 onwards, ThousandEyes API v6 endpoints will be officially shut down, meaning that all requests to these endpoints will return an error, as the resource will no longer be available. Our v7 API introduces new capabilities for developers and DevOps-focused customers, ranging from standardization to performance and improved documentation. It aims to deliver a cohesive API surface for all ThousandEyes product areas. The goal of our v7 API is to simplify and improve use cases while increasing interoperability with tools common to operations workflows.

Event detection now supports generating network outage events related to private networks. Since private networks don't have a public prefix (network outage events require a network prefix), events now consider the /24 network which is part of the private network and indicates that as the problem domain.

Stacked Metrics Now Supports BGP

We are excited to announce a new feature that allows customers to view BGP metrics in a Comparison view as a stacked metric. This enhancement enables you to see Cloud and Enterprise Agent test results alongside BGP metrics, providing a comprehensive overview for better analysis and decision-making. If you are conducting a Web or Network test, you can now select the Routing metric you'd like to compare alongside the Cloud and Enterprise Agent test result, providing an easier way to compare the data layer and the control layer.

Bug Fixes 2025-03-05

  • Fixed an issue in the US2 and EU1 regions where the link to Endpoint Test Details on the Endpoint Views page was not working as expected. Users can transition to the Test Details page without errors.

Bug Fixes 2025-03-13

  • Some events were not categorized as recurring, even when they matched exactly with another event. This issue has now been resolved.

  • Some events previously appeared as ongoing for too long due to a validation error, but this issue has been resolved. Now, events will not be incorrectly marked as ongoing. This change applies only to events from February 25th onward and does not affect older events.

Endpoint Agent Client Version 1.236.1

The following enhancements have been made to the Endpoint Agent client:

All Platforms

  • The list of supported NPCAP versions is updated to include version 1.79.

  • Now, the reason why a path trace gets terminated before reaching the target is reported. These reasons may include reaching the maximum TTL or having too many unresponsive hops.

  • We now detect when a router with TTL (Time to Live) evasion protection is active in the probe path, which can obstruct complete path detection. This enables our autoprotocol detection to better handle such cases and switch to a less affected trace mode.

  • The agent will now enforce a maximum size on the database.

  • Previously, the agent incorrectly labeled HTTP test failures as proxy errors when the target was at fault. It will now correctly identify issues with the target when the proxy is functioning properly.

New Menu Navigation and Selected Feature Renaming

We are excited to announce that the ThousandEyes renaming and left-navigation menu changes are now live in the platform.

As part of our ongoing commitment to deliver a consistent user experience focused on clear use cases, we have renamed, re-ordered, and re-architected the menu items in the left-hand navigation panel, updated page URLs, renamed page elements across the platform, and updated our technical documentation accordingly (screenshots may temporarily reflect the previous experience):

  • Renamed the Cloud & Enterprise Agents menu item to Network & App Synthetics.

  • Renamed the Endpoint Agents menu item to Endpoint Experience.

  • Renamed Snapshots to Public Snapshots.

  • Renamed Saved Events to Private Snapshots.

  • Added a Routing landing page to the left-hand navigation for BGP functionality.

  • Added an Event Detection landing page to the left-hand navigation.

  • Streamlined platform settings under a new Manage page in the left-hand navigation, including Sharing and Account Settings.

  • Streamlined Connected Devices menu items into categories, such as Data Views and Management.

  • Renamed the Cloud & Enterprise Agents data type used in the platform to Network & App Synthetics.

  • Renamed the Endpoint Agents data type used in the platform to Endpoint Experience.

The names of individual agent types, such as Cloud Agents, Enterprise Agents, and Endpoint Agents, will remain unchanged. These changes will not impact our APIs or developer experience.

New BGP Updates Table

Introducing Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) Updates, a new feature accessible under our new left navigation menu path: Routing > BGP Updates. This tool allows users to view real-time BGP announcements and withdrawals for prefixes they track, as seen by our global network of BGP monitors.

The data-rich, real-time updating table shows detailed information, including the Autonomous System (AS) path, update type, and timestamp of updates. Users can filter on these attributes as well as other criteria, such as prefix, Origin AS, Resource Public Key Infrastructure status, and more, to help with data analysis. Users can also access detailed BGP Community information, enabling them to track route tagging and policy implementation effectively.

Users can follow real-time changes and review historical data within a 30-day window, providing valuable insights for network change assurance and forensic analyses. This enhancement in network monitoring capabilities offers comprehensive insights into BGP announcements, supporting effective routing policy management and traffic engineering.

Improve the Template Review Screen

When deploying a template, the template review screen now more clearly indicates which tests are part of the deployment.

Warn on Duplicate Tags When Reviewing Template Deployment

A warning is now shown in the Review step if duplicate tags are found, depending on the deployment strategy.

Fix Minor UI Issues Affecting Templates

Templates within a collection are now listed alphabetically, and the order of tests now matches what's defined in the template.

2025-03-20 Bug Fixes

  • In the "you are about to deploy x and y and z", the "and" is no longer bold.

Cloud Insights Cloud Integration Policies Settings Now Available for AWS

Cloud Integration policies for AWS have been enabled under the Cloud Insights Settings page. This enables administrators to control the AWS regions and resource types that are imported into Cloud Insights. This allows resources/regions to be excluded from AWS integration data import for that ThousandEyes Account Group.

Cloud Insights Network and Security Layer in Network and App Synthetics

For Cloud Configuration a new topology layer is introduced that enables a drill down, using the shield icon, to the underlying network and security layer. This topology layer highlights AWS security groups on the logical link and enables configuration changes within a Security Group to be reviewed.

Cloud Insights Flow Logs per Second (FPS) Allocation

Under Cloud Insights, Settings FPS Monitoring tab, a new capability to allocate and update the 95th percentile rate limit of Flow Logs Per Second (and corresponding allocation of ThousandEyes Units), which will be used to import AWS VPC Flow Logs.

Update to Splunk ThousandEyes App Scope for Tests

The latest version of the Splunk ThousandEyes App (0.0.21) has updated the scopes assigned to the OAuth2 token to better align with the application's requirements. The tests scope for the app has changed from manage to read meaning the OAuth2 token for the Splunk App will now have read-only access to ThousandEyes test data.

Add TLSv1.3 to test settings options

TLSv1.3 is now an option under SSL Version in the TLS section of an HTTP Server test or other Page Load and Transaction test that supports the HTTP Server Layer. With this option TLSv1.3 will be enforced - SSL errors will be present if TLSv1.3 cannot be used.
